Our story

It Started with
One Great Cup of Coffee

CocoMia was founded on a single, stubborn belief: that the everyday moments — a morning coffee, a lazy weekend brunch, a lunch shared with a friend — deserve to be extraordinary.

We started small. A handful of tables on Bloom Street, a serious espresso machine, and a kitchen that smelled permanently of butter and fresh herbs. Word spread quickly, not because we advertised, but because people kept coming back — and bringing their people.

Today, CocoMia is a neighbourhood staple. The menu has grown, the team has grown, but the heart of what we do remains the same: honest food, exceptional coffee, and a space where everyone feels genuinely welcome.

Behind the name

Brew

Coffee is our first language. We obsess over the bean, the grind, the temperature, the pour. Every cup — from a classic flat white to our seasonal specials — is crafted with the same care as everything else on our menu.

Bloom

Growth, warmth, flourishing — in food, in community, in spirit. We believe a great meal has the power to slow you down and open you up. Bloom is what happens when people gather around a table and genuinely connect.

Trained in Johannesburg and Cape Town, Amara brings 15 years of kitchen experience and an obsession with seasonal ingredients.

Luca has competed in national barista championships and single-handedly developed every drink on our coffee menu.

Siya's warmth sets the tone the moment you walk in. He ensures every guest feels like a regular, even on their first visit.

That's Yours

Nestled in Sam Levy's Village in Borrowdale, CocoMia was designed to feel like the nicest living room you've never had. Warm lighting, mismatched vintage chairs, and table-side plants that Nadia refuses to let anyone kill.

We have seating for 40 inside and a small sun-drenched courtyard out back — perfect for Harare mornings. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard. Children are welcome everywhere.

We also have a communal table for solo visitors who prefer company, and a quiet nook near the window if you'd rather be left in peace.
